How to Contact Google to Cancel an Account That Has Been Compromised

If possible, secure your Google account before sending in an account cancellation request. Since your Google account may be associated with services such as Gmail, Google Docs and Google Checkout, taking action now may prevent harmful consequences. If you are unable to access the account, notify Google immediately so they can help you recover the account. You will not be able to cancel the account until you are able to log in again. Expect a response from Google within 24 hours.

Difficulty:Moderate1
Alert Google that you are locked out of the account by completing the form on the “I Can’t Access My Account” page. Type in an alternate email address and select the “I Believe Someone Has Taken Over My Account” option. Disclose information about the products and services you use. Specify the approximate month and year you began using the account along with the date of your last successful login. Enter the last password you remember. Click “Submit,” then wait to hear back from Google before attempting to cancel the account.
2
Secure the account if you are not locked out from within Gmail. Change your password and security questions from within “Mail Settings” under the “Accounts and Import” heading.
3
Sign into the Google Accounts page with your existing or recovered login information and click the “Edit” link next to the “My Products” heading. Select the “Close Account And Delete All Services And Info Associated With It” option. Complete the short form and enter your Google account password. Click “Delete Google Account” to send the request to Google.
Print and save important documents residing in Google Docs or reassign ownership to an active collaborator before canceling a Google account.
Google AdSense account cancellation is a separate process that you can complete on the “Closing My AdSense Account” page.
Submit the “I Can’t Access My Account” form if you wish to restore the account after you cancel it. You have a brief but unspecified window of time to reverse the account cancellation request.
