FAQs for Google Bots

Google bots, spiders or crawlers are specially developed algorithms that scan millions of Web pages and index them on the Google search engine results page. Google uses many bots of different types to crawl different types of Web pages to index them on the results page. Since Google has the highest percentage of users compared to other search engines, most websites design their pages for Google bots to find and index according to the changing algorithms.

Google bots collect documents in the form of Web pages on the Internet and place them on the Google search engine results page. Bots not only collect the documents, but also index them, so that users can easily search for information on the Google search engine.
Google changes its algorithms frequently. Three basic components of websites make them easily accessible to Google bots. These components include: search engine optimization, relevant and frequently updated information, and inbound links. Placing a sitemap on the website helps Google algorithms index the site according to important content, new content and updated content.
Google bots access both HREF links and SRC links. Google bots collect all the links on the pages of a website and follow the links to other websites. To ensure indexing by Google bots, webmasters must place relevant links on each Web page of the website.
The different types of Google bots include: fresh bots, which search for fresh Web content; deep bots, which follow all links and downloads to read the minute details and structure of websites; media bots, which automatically place relevant ads on Web pages; image bots, which crawl over images to place on the Google image search; and ads bots which crawl over advertising landing pages to index them on the Google search results page.
Webmasters can place appropriate directives in the robots.txt file to restrict Google bots from crawling over some information or images on a website. They can also add a meta tag to the page to restrict Google bots from crawling over the page.
