The Google Facebook Gadget is a program that shows Facebook notifications on your desktop. The gadget communicates with your Facebook profile to show you your latest messages, pokes and friend requests. Google Gadgets are additions to Google Desktop, which is a free software from Google that makes searching your computer as easy as searching the Web. In addition, Google Desktop helps you organize information from the Web and show you new mail and personalized news.

Open a Web browser and visit the Google Desktop website. Click “Install Google Desktop.” Google Desktop will download and install to your computer.

Visit the Google Facebook Gadget website and click “Download Gadget.” The Facebook Gadget will download and then install automatically to your computer.

Look in the Google Desktop sidebar for your Facebook notifications and ensure it is there.
If you have an iGoogle page, you can also add the gadget to your page. Select the “iGoogle” option during the Google Desktop installation.
